The Devon Rex is similar to the Cornish Rex in that it also has thin, curly, soft fur but the curl effect in their coat is caused by a different gene. Interestingly enough, if a German or Cornish Rex is bred with a Devon Rex, the fur of their offspring will not be curled or rexed.
The Devon Rex is an unusual looking cat and because of their very large wide set ears, large eyes and wide skulls and upturned noses, they have been nicknamed "alien cats" and "pixie cats".
